What do you love most about the game of basketball?
I love the HUSTLE. I love the hard work and dedication that comes with being successful at this game. I take so much pride in my defense and rebounding, helping my team be as successful as possible. Basketball has opened so many doors for me and has helped me realize that hard work truly does pay off.
Can you tell me about your recruiting experience and why you ultimately chose your school?
The whole recruiting process has been such a blessing to me. I received my first offer while I was still on JV from The University of Texas at El Paso. Coming to North Carolina, I had so many questions after doing some research on the school. From the time I met the staff in the airport to the time Coach Tracey dropped me and my mom off, they felt like my family. UNC began recruiting me just this month, which is why the chemistry is unbelievable. The players are like my sisters already. We really enjoy each other. The whole program is like a family and they have so much support. The players spoke fondly of their coaching staff, assuring me that they're honest and will definitely take care of me. Another reason I chose UNC is because there is opportunity to play/start as a freshman. The whole visit was amazing and this decision feels so right. Ball is not life at UNC. Education, discipline, family, God, and ball is life.
What has been your favorite part of playing in the Texas Elite organization?
My favorite part about playing with the Texas Elite organization was playing under Coach Derrick Johnson-Wright. He is honestly the best coach I have ever had. He cares about more than basketball and he is the one who made me the player I am today. But, I am far from where my full potential can take me.
What are your expectations for the upcoming High School season?
This season, I hope our incoming varsity players can fill the shoes of last year's seniors. We only have 2 returning starters, but if we focus and work hard, we can still make a good run this year.
What are your expectations for the next level?
As an incoming freshmen, I expect to contribute to my team and I expect my coaches to help develop me into a better, more versatile player.
